Corporations and Governments
canned: I’ve read about the paper going around that maps the structure of stock ownership between all the major transnational corporations in the world. One thing they found was that a tight group of around 147 corporations owned a large proportion of all other corporations.   I doubt I’m the only one who considers this in the context of 8 countries that control the world.

Many teachers have little or no experience →
infoneer-pulse: As children around the country settle in for the new school year, millions of them are sharing more than desks, sandwiches and sniffles. Chances are good that they are being taught by teachers with little or no experience. The odds that a child will be taught by a new teacher have increased dramatically over the past two decades. In 1987-‘88, the most common level of experience...

Oxygen finally spotted in space →
infoneer-pulse: One of astronomy’s longest-running “missing persons” investigations has concluded: astronomers have found molecular oxygen in space. While single atoms of oxygen have been found alone or incorporated into other molecules, the oxygen molecule - the one we breathe - had never been seen. The Herschel space telescope spotted the molecules in a star-forming region in the...

It Will Cost $1.9 Trillion Annually To Create A... →
infoneer-pulse: Companies and governments the world over are investing billions of dollars in transitioning to clean energy, more efficient agricultural production methods, and climate-proof city infrastructures—but is it enough? One study claims that we will have to invest $1.9 trillion each year for the next 40 years in these new technologies, or face a major planetary catastrophe. About $1.1...
